MEET OUR TEAM

STEPHANIE CARTER

Hi, I’m Stephanie, from Toronto, ON and I’ve had HS since 2003. I’m a french fry stealing, car singing, documentary binging, Baker.
My passion fo HS stems from when I first developed the disease at 13 and was unable to find any information online that could explain what was happening to me. My goal is for HS Heroes to become that resource for everyone; a common place where you can find other people living with and managing HS. This is a community based on understanding and hope. There’s a popular saying “Be the person you needed when you were younger.” With HS Heroes, I believe we are doing just that.

CHARLOTTE ROGERS

Hi, I’m Charlotte, from Newfoundland. I have had HS for 30+ years. I am a homecare worker who loves her job. I take care of people who cannot care for themselves. I want to raise awareness for HS to let people know that they are not alone. They do not have to suffer in silence. I want to advocate and educate for HS patients. My one goal that I would like to see for HS patients would be a small survival kit that you could get at the pharmacy if you are out of supplies or cannot afford any.
We may have HS but it does not have us.

KRYSTLE SUTHERLAND

Hi there everyone! I’m Krystle, from Edmonton AB, and I’ve had HS since 1995. My passion for HS includes learning everything I can about this disease and being able to share my knowledge and experience with others. My personal goal as a director at HS Heroes is to be able to educate adolescents so that they are aware of the symptoms of HS and seek treatment early on. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, antiques, and relaxing with my two dogs.

MICHAEL WIENS

Hello everyone, I’m Mike  from Peterborough, ON, and I’ve had HS since the mid 2000’s. I am a theatrically trained actor who also enjoys photography and writing. My initial interest in HS was sparked after I was diagnosed with it in my early 30’s and quickly realized that many of the medical and healthcare workers I met with had never heard of HS before. I hope that HS Heroes can be a place where you feel a sense of belonging and that you understand there are people who know exactly what you are going through. We aim to create a community of resilience, courage and strength in this battle that we fight together.
